The garden center is located in the beautiful area by Bagsværd lake, close to Aldershvile Castle Ruin. The location provides a very special environment at the garden center, with rich wildlife and plant life.

Our history

More than a hundred years of history.
The garden center is located near Aldershvile Castle Ruin in the beautiful area by Bagsværd lake. For more than a hundred years, gardening has been carried out at this location. In the first part of the 1900s, rhubarb, berry bushes, and willow for basket weaving were produced. In addition, soil was excavated and delivered to local greenhouse nurseries. From 1954, a garden center business operated on the site, producing Erica and white lilacs, which were exported to Finland, as well as evergreen plants with root balls.

Modern garden center

In 1985, Jens Bech Jensen took over the garden center. He developed it into a modern garden center with garden plants, summer flowers, Mediterranean plants, houseplants, and much more.

New generation

In 2019, the year welcomed good news that the garden center had agreed on a generational change. The garden center has developed into a unique business with a good reputation, primarily due to professionalism, plant quality, new products, and knowledge. Pernille Friis Larsen became co-owner of Aldershvile Planteskole APS in 2019. Today, the garden center is run by co-owner Pernille Friis Larsen. Pernille trained at Aldershvile Planteskole and has worked in the beautiful surroundings of the garden center for more than 30 years.

Collaborations

We are a member of the Home & Garden purchasing chain, which is a nationwide chain of garden centers. The collaboration with Home & Garden makes it possible to purchase at competitive prices and still remain independent. Furthermore, we collaborate extensively with our own suppliers and producers, both for plants, pots, interior, and gardening tools, etc.

At the garden center, we know how important the local community is. Therefore, we also host events where it is possible to visit the garden center and experience interactions with the nature around us.
