The history of gardening

The profession of gardening dates back a long time. In the 19th century, the term "gardener" replaced what was known as "kitchen gardener" and "master grafter." Before 1850, a gardener was typically employed at country estates or castles, but today the profession has many specializations and areas of work (Source: Asger Klougart - Den Store Danske). 

The profession is in many ways bound by tradition in everything from methods and approaches, but it is also a profession that is constantly evolving, as new technology and knowledge change the ways we interact with nature. 

At Aldershvile Planteskole, we want a blend of new and traditional methods. We strive for sustainable development and a continuation of both traditional and new methods and approaches. We make it a point to pass on the knowledge and traditions of the profession to future generations of gardeners. Therefore, we have apprentice gardeners whom we train in everything from care and maintenance, diseases and pests, as well as in sales and advice, so that our customers can receive the best guidance.
